Okayama to Osaka

We have a full day to get to Okayama to Osaka. We have a Rail Pass. Is their a scenic route to get to Osaka, possibly through the inland sea islands? Please keep in mind that we'll have our luggage. Any tips or advice is appreciated. We are going in October.

We are going in October.** You might consider taking a train to Takamatsu, then take the Jumbo Ferry to Kobe Sannomiya. The rapid train from Okayama to Takamatsu runs frequently, and takes 1 hour.
