Are the autumn leaves in Kanazawa as good as Kyoto?

Thanks!

No, Kyoto's autumn leaves are much better. Unlike Kanazawa, Kyoto is surrounded by forested mountains and has many more temples and gardens with autumn colors than Kanazawa.

Are there any other decent areas you could recommend?

I have not been the Kanazawa in autumn. The only well known koyo spot is Kenrokuen:

Some Japanese websites recommend Mt. Hakusan National Park and some other places in Ishikawa Prefecyure, they are out of Kanazawa city though.
