We are planning on travelling from Kyoto to Hiroshima on 3rd Jan 2009 by the Hikari train (will have rail pass). What station at Kyoto and Hiroshima will we have to go to in order to catch the right Hikari train? What times do the Hikari trains run?

JR Kyoto Station and JR Hiroshima Station.

What times do the Hikari trains run?

There are no direct hikari trains between Kyoto and Hiroshima, except three trains in the morning in direction of Hiroshima, leaving Kyoto at 7:49, 8:02 and 8:22. At all other times, one transfer of trains is required alongthe way, typically at Shin-Osaka Station. Basically, there is one or two hikari connection per hour between the two cities.

Just another quick question since we are visiting in winter time will it be worth visiting Miyajima?

Miyajima is worth a visit at any time of the year.
