Yokohama photo? 2008/11/9 09:01
I was wondering where this picture of Yokohama was taken.

And what trains can I take to get there?

Thank you.

probably from a boat 2008/11/9 14:58
This photo looks to me like it would have been taken from a boat in Tokyo Bay. I can't think of anywhere on land that would give you that view.

Best view of MM21 2008/11/9 16:06
This is a typical touristical shot of MM21 district in Yokohama, and you can see this photo on many postcards.

I think you can see the same view from places like the Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal
http://www.osanbashi.com/en/index.html

or perhaps Yamashita Park
http://www.welcome.city.yokohama.jp/eng/tourism/spot/spot100...

or the surrounding areas. In fact, I think the ships on the left are anchored at Osanbashi. Just ask at any of the tourist information counters in Yokohama (there is one inside Yokohama Station and another in front of Sakuragicho Station) and they would probably know.

However, note that Mount Fuji cannot always be seen. Let's hope it's a cold, clear sunset.

There are bicycle rentals called "Hamachari." It costs 800 yen per day and you will be helping the city as they are re-using abandoned bikes to encourage tourists to ride down the alleys where the old and smaller shops and eat-outs are.

Have fun!

Lining up MM21 and Fujisan, I conclude that it is probably made from the north eastern end of the Bay Bridge, possible the Skywalk area of the bridge:

Uji sure is right. You should take a look at their "gallery" page and click some of the blue phrases.

I also thought of the Bay Bridge later- the angle with Mt. Fuji doesn't seem right for somewhere like Yamashita Park.

I agree that you will not always get that view of Mt. Fuji as it is often covered by cloud, so don't get your hopes up too much!
