Hi

Hi. Following is my itinerary

Day 1 to 5 Tokyo
Day 6 to 8 kyoto
Day 9 to 11 osaka

No side trips planned and not a round trip. Will be taking the airport limousine to hotel from narita.

From toyko to Kyoto will buy a one way Shinkansen Nozomi to Kyoto. On the last day in Kyoto, Plan to buy the JR WEst kansai area pass. 4 days at 6000 yen to use to travel to osaka.

Pls help.
Am i right to say that i can use the JR west pass to kansai airport ?

Where can i buy the pass in Kyoto?

Can i also use the pass for Local trains in osaka?

What is the difference between Shin Osaka and Osaka?

Thanks so much for ur help. Appreciate...

Am i right to say that i can use the JR west pass to kansai airport ?

Yes. Either by "JR Airport Rapid" or on an unreserved seat of the JR Haruka limited express. Details are here:

Can i also use the pass for Local trains in osaka?

Yes, local JR trains in Osaka, but not subways and other non-JR trains. Transportation in Osaka is explained here:

What is the difference between Shin Osaka and Osaka?

They are two different stations in Osaka!

Note that a JR West Pass is unlikely to pay off for your schedule. I recommend to use Suica and Kansai Surutto prepaid cards.

Kyoto use buses 2008/11/10 21:09
Not to many trains once you get to Kyoto. Most travel in the area is done by buses. Once you get to Kyoto station it is easy to find the information office and they will give you maps and schedules of the buses. It is very easy, you get a "cartoon like" map with all the routes and bus numbers. Have fun !

I will also get a local suica pass on top of the 4 day JR west pass.

Everything that is covered by Suica in the Kansai Region is also covered by the JR West Pass. Insetad, I recommend the Surutto Kansai Prepaid Card. It basically covers everything that the JR West Pass does not cover. And again, I don't think that a 4-day JR West Pass will pay off for your itinerary.

Here is an online version of the "cartoon like" map, which Daz88 is referring to:
