Ski with children 2008/11/19 23:15
Hi

We're coming to Japan during Christmas for skiing. Two adults and a child of 7 year-old. We're total beginners.

Can anyone suggest a good ski resort that's not far from Tokyo and with English speaking instructors? Is Yuzawa a good place to start? Is Christmas too early for the ski season in Yuzawa or should we go further north? We also like to stay within easy reach of a town if possible for a bit of local culture as well.

Thanks in advance.

I've found this website, and this agency, to be quite informative and responsive to questions. They may be able to specifically recommend a place with English instruction:

I recommend Hakuba. I went there with my kids last year. We took the bus from Shinjuku. It was about 4 hrs.ride. We took the lesson with Evergreen. They have English ski instructors.
