Unsure abt buses to gotemba from shibuya 2008/11/26 23:39
Hi, i'll be going to Tokyo soon and my Mother & I intend to go to the Gotemba Premium Outlets. However, i am very confused on the best way to get there. I found this: http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/

which let me type in my destination of shibuya to gotemba and reccomended me the Asagiri No.1 at 1290 yen. From Gotemba i should take a free shuttle bus to the outlets?

Will using that method of transport be the same as using Odakyu Highway bus? Or is it best to just take the Odakyu Highway bus? Also how do i find operation times for the Odakyu Highway bus?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The Asagiri is a limited express train that connects Shinjuku with Gotemba. The 1290 yen is just the express surcharge. The entire one way fare is over 2500 yen!

Certainly not! The Asagiri is a train, the Odakyu Highway Bus is a bus.

The Odakyu Highway bus requires about 100 minutes from Shinjuku to Gotemba. You can transfer to the free outlet shuttle either at Gotemba Station or Tomei-Gotemba IC along the expressway. Transfering at the IC is faster. The one way fare of 1630 is considerably cheaper than access by Asagiri train. The bus operates every 30 minutes. Advance reservations are recommended on busy days.

Here is more information about accessto the outlet mall:
