Here is an itinerary:

12dec: arrival Tokyo(morning) city tour
13dec:Tokyo to Hakodate (stay 1 night)
14dec:Hakodate to Sapporo
15dec:Sapporo
16dec:Otaru
17dec:Noboribetsu
18dec:Sapporo to Tokyo
19dec:Tokyo
20dec:Tokyo
21dec:Tokyo to Osaka

23dec:Osaka to Tokyo
24dec:Tokyo to Singapore

May i know if 7days or 14days JR pass will be more appropriate for my family and I?

If possible, can you also suggest a better itinerary?

Thank you.

That is definitely a 14 day pass job. As to a suggestion....I suggest you totally rethink it. Hokkaido is a long way for a hit and run visit in winter. Another consideration is your airline. Can they fly you in and out of any other airports ? For instance if you were flying JAL they would take you to Sapporo inbound and fly you out of Kansai at no additional cost. The time saving alone would be worth a few extra dollars of air fare and let you see a lot more on the ground.
