Which train(Shinkansen) will I be taking from arriving in Tokyo to Hiroshima? Are seat reservations mandatory, and how much will it cost if I already have the JR Pass?
Thank you!

Choose an express Shinkansen that only stop at major cities would be faster if you go from Tokyo. Reservation is preferred if you would like to get a good seat with your friends but it is not mandatory. There are unreserve seats open to all passengers in a different carriage. It is totally free because it is all included in your JR Pass.

With your rail pass validated, you can reserve your train free of charge, and that will ensure you a seat. If you go for the non-reserved compartment, there is a chance that all seats are taken and you would have to stand for the whole 4 hour journey. For train schedule, you can plan it here: http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi-english/hyperWeb.cgiJust remember to tick "excepts NOZOMI", because Nozomi Shinkansen is the only shinkansen that you aren't allowed to ride with your rail pass.

Cindy, As already stated, it won't cost you anything if you have the Japan Rail Pass, and seat reservations are also free. One drawback with the railpass, however, is that it is not valid on the limited-stop "Nozomi" services that would take you directly from Tokyo to Hiroshima without having to change trains. With the railpass, you will have to use the slightly slower "Hikari" trains, and this entails changing trains en route (either at Shin-Osaka or Himeji). You can see the westbound timetable for the Shinkansen here... http://www.japanrail.com/pdf/timetable_fare/timetable_fare1_...
