Any ideas how to send a self stamped addressed envelope from Australia. Australian stamps don't work in Japan for the return letter?

Do you have anyone in Japan who can do the application on your behalf? I only can see that you have to use "return postcards," meaning domestic postcard.

Also, they will write back with a date and time specified, so you need to plan your trip carefully so that you can be there for sure.

Visitors applying from overseas can make use of an International Reply Coupon, available from most local post offices around the world.

International Reply Coupons should be available at your local post office and work kind of like international stamps. Also, it is my understanding that the application must be in Japanese.
