Transporation on New Years Eve 2008/12/30 21:28
I live in Tachikawa Tokyo and would love to make it to the Tokyo Tower for new years eve. I heard rumor that the trains run all night. But, is this also go for the monorail and subways systems? Should I be able to get back after midnight using any of those mentioned?

Most major lines run through the night. So, does the JR Chuo Line, for example. And specific other line you want to knwo about?

The Tama Monorail will be operating through the night (approximately once every 30 minutes).

All subway lines in Tokyo will be operating through the night.

You can look up the timetables here:

ok, jr runs some trains, but the small ones (Odakyu, Sotetsu) seems that they have nothing...

I tried using jourdan and hyperdia, but I guess they only entered only major lines.

Though I figure the Toyoko Line to be a very major line.
I can pull up data on hyperdia for Jan1 2007/2008 but not for 2009 as it shows a regular schedule.

Would this be the correct schedule for the Toyoko Line?

http://www.tokyu.co.jp/railway/railway/mid/oshirase/081127ne...

From what I see, the last Toyoko Line train to leave Shibuya would be 1:50am on the Toyoko Line, or the last train on the Meguro line would leave Meguro at 1:46am.

Is this correct?

That is not true. Trains along the Odakyu lines also run through the night, which is, indeed, not correctly reflected by Jorudan.

Sotetsu operates only a small number of additional trains during the night.

As for Tokyu, the situation is described here:
http://www.tokyu.co.jp/contents_index/guide/news/081119-1.ht...

The Toyoko Line, Meguro Line and Denentoshi Line operate through the night (trains every 15-30 minutes). The other, minor Tokyu lines do not operate during the night.
