Alpine route - when open in 2009

10friends are making trip to visit Gokayama/Japan Alpine route from 14 to 16 April. What is your advice on arrangement?

The website does not mention the opening date for 2009 yet. Last year, it opened from April 17.

If you're referring to the Takeyama-Kurobe Alpine Route, normally it's opened during the latter half of April. But I would suggest to go in May at the earliest.
I went at the end of April, thinking the snow corridor would be most spectacular at its greatest height. But it turned out during that time of the year it was still snowing heavily up there, and together with the strong wind, we could hardly see anything. When we reached Murodo, we weren't allowed to walk out for safety reason. All we managed was to have lunch there and continue the journey towards Kurobe Dam.
