Oku-hida to Matsumoto

Does anyone know if there's a way to go to Matsumoto directly from Oku-hida?

If not, what's the best way to get to Matsumoto from Oku-hida?

We'll have a JR rail pass if that matters at all. Thanks!

The Matsumoto-Takayama bus, which operates around the year, stops in Hirayu (Oku-Hida) along the way.

There is also a direct bus all the way to Shin-Hodaka, but it does not operate in winter:

The Japan Rail Pass will not be of any use.
