Onsen Questions 2009/1/13 04:17
Hi! I am wondering if you have to stay at an onsen hotel overnight, or if you can just pay a lesser fee to use the onsen without staying overnight. Sorry if this question makes little sense.. Anyway, if you do have to stay overnight, do you guys know of any inexpensive (but still awesome) onsens near Tokyo? Thank you!

It depends on the ryokan. Some of them open their baths to non-staying guests, others do not. The typical fee for just bathing is between 200 and 2000 yen per person.

Some ryokans have something called the okaeri plan..
but might want to call up the ryokans first to ask if they are available for day use, as not all of them open for day use visitors.
