From Tokyo to Nagano 2009/1/15 13:02
Hi, can someone please give me advice on how to get to Nagano from Tokyo. I will be there from mid april for a week. I am thinking of taking a bus to get there, so I am wondering if I could get some recommendations on cities that I should visit during the journey. Will be difficult to backpack by bus?

Hi Herms! I'm staying in a ski resort in Nagano this winter. I believe the easiest way to go to Nagano is by train... cause of the English signs everywhere... I guess you know http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/, which helps a lot.
I know there's a bus from Tokyo, departs from Ikebukuro and takes about 3 hours and 45 min to Nagano.
I don't know much about Nagano but the place I'm staying is amazing! It's called Shiga Kogen (Shiga Heights) and it's one of the largest ski resort in the world. From Nagano Station it's about 70 min by bus and normally It's possible to ski or snowboard until the begining of May.
In your way to Shiga Kogen there's the well-known Wild Monkey Park, where Japanese monkeys bathe in hot springs...
All I know about this region it's on this website:
