Quality of location in Ginza?

I am going to tokyo in February and have noticed that GINZA is well priced for hotel accommodation. What is this location like in terms of nightlife and restaurants. What is access to transport like in this area. For eg how much would it cost to get a taxi from roppongi to ginza?

It is one of Japan's largest nightlife districts. But also one of its more expensive ones.
What is access to transport like in this area.
It is extremely central. Numerous subway lines passing. And JR Yurakucho or Tokyo Station is also nearby.
For eg how much would it cost to get a taxi from roppongi to ginza?
10 minutes, 160 yen by subway.
About 1500 yen by taxi.
