Nothing is closed. To the opposite: weekends are when Takayama is most lively. During the off-seasons, I even recommend to visit on a weekends, because weekdays can be almost too calm. While during the high season, weekends can almost be too crowded, and it might be better to visit during the week for a calmer experience.
