Travel pass in Japan 2009/2/8 18:37
Hi, I'm planning a 1 week trip to Japan (4 day Tokyo,2 day Hakone and last day Tokyo). Any advise if I should get a JR pass or just use the Suica to minimise on transport cost? Thanks.

A Japan Rail Pass does certainly not pay off for your travel plans. But a Hakone Free Pass and the NEX & Suica package are worth considering.

Not at all 2009/2/9 06:31
It is about $40 each way on Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara. Another $10 or so to get to Hakone by express train. So, no, not at all. JR trains in Tokyo are cheap, and you may end up taking the regular subways anyways.
