Sushi? 2009/2/11 12:23
Hi :)
I know this may sound like silly question but I am just curious.
Although each region of Japan has culture, dialects, etc., Sushi is common for all Japan. Is this true? Like sushi from Tokyo is same as sushi from Kyoto? Is the sushi eating style the same as well?

thank you :)

There are regional variations in sushi in both the style and ingredients of sushi.

For example, pressed sushi (oshizushi) is more common in western Japan than in eastern Japan. And I believe that nigirizushi is originally a Tokyo specialty, although it is now the most popular style found across Japan.

As for ingredients, they vary depending on the local availability of seafood.
