Pink Moss in April

I have two weeks holiday in early April and would like to see Pink Moss without going to Hokkaido - heard that there is a place near Tokyo - does anyone have a suggestion. Plus I plan to spend sometime in Beppu to go up to Tsurumi and Yufuin for a superb view - will there be any Cherry blossom at that time. My plan is to spend a week down in Beppu/ Kumamoto and 2 days in Fukuoka then another week in the area where there is pink moss. Appreciate all suggestions.

I went to the one in Chichibu (Saitama prefecture) at the very beginning of May last year, and it was juuust a bit past the peak, so April might be fine, of course depending on the weather :)
