Help with Kinosaki Ryokan 2009/2/19 09:44
We'll be traveling around the Kyoto area and wanted to spend one evening in Kinosaki Onsen. We are more interested in sampling the 7 public bathhouses by styaing at the local ryokan, so expensive ryokans are not our top picks. I've found some ryokans which looked promising, the trouble is I don't really read japanese...

Can someone kindly help advise:
1. I'm looking at the cheapest stay, but does it include passes to the public baths?
2. Is there curfew for these ryokans?
3. Do they welcome non-Japanese travelers?

Any other suggestions are most welcome! Thanks in advance!

You can check prices and facilities of different ryokans in Kinosaki with this page in English:
http://www.japanhotel.net/kinosaki/
In general the bath or the bathes within the ryokan are included, but not other bathes in other houses.
japanhotel.net ryokans and most others welcome non-Japanese guests, but knowledge of English language can be limited or non-existant. In such a case you normally get an English leaflet with facility explanations.

Thank you very much! We read in japan-guide that if you stayed at a local ryokan you will have passes to the 7 public baths. There are so many of them in Kinosaki and most sites are in Japanese, we are having a hard time figuring out which one offers this deal. I shall look into the website! :-)

All the local ryokans listed on the japanhotel.net page offer this deal. I was just in Kinosaki again last September, and it was wonderful as always. Enjoy your stay there.
