My family and I are planning to visit japan this summer of 09. We are not signing up any package tour. Is it easy to get a tour guide when we get there?

If you want a guide, yes, it may be better to book one in advance, but do you need one? With the help of a guidebook, you can move about and have a very enjoyable trip on your own :) No need for a tour package or for a guide.
