Higashimokoto to Kamiyubetsu

Hi, we are planning a trip to eastern Hokkaido for 4 days during last week of May 2009.
But as it is, we've never driven in Japan before and cannot seem to get hold of a map that is detailed enough to have routes marked out for driving between Higashimokoto Ozora Town (for viewing Moss Phlex) and Kamiyubetsu (for tulips). And in between to visit Shiretoko too. We need help on good detailed English maps for Eastern Hokkaido
However that said 1 of us can read Japanese fluently and the other one has international license and we plan to rent a car from toyota with English GPS.
We would like to stay nearby to the attractions and preferably in an onsen ryokan or any 3stars hotel is fine. Please help to recommend something.
Or anyone who has experience of travelling to Ozora & Kamiyubetsu free & easy, it would be great if you can share your experience with me!
