Please recommand places to see in Japan 2009/2/23 17:28
I am coming to Japan in first week of April. I want to see Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Fuji and other attractions that I can cover in 7-8 days. I will stay in Tokyo with a freind, and don't want to stay in hotel anywhere, so please inform about one day tours. Please let me know which places should I cover in 7-8 days, and the best route to follow?

Considering the distance and limited time you have, you will likely be doing something like this:

...visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara, at least a night or two in Kyoto,

or
something like this, staying in Kanto area:

If you want to see Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, I recommend that you plan to stay over in that area for a night or two in any case. Otherwise you will be spending an awful lot of time on trains.

Look around on the Travel section on this website to get some ideas :)

Day trips to Kyoto/Osaka etc. 2009/2/23 19:12
In your case, Day trips from Tokyo to Kyoto, Osaka, Nara or Himeji are feasible, but not reccomendable, since you need spend more than 5 hours per day on the train(too bad these cities are some one the best attractions Japan can offer)

So, here is a sample itinerary for you.
