Help on Alpine Route

We plan to go thru the whole route of Alpine Route, we will start from Toyama and end at Shinano-Omachi, question is how we get back to Toyama or Kanazawa (we stay at Kanazawa)? And how long it take to go back from Shinano-Omachi to Toyama?

Re-tracing the alpine route would be another option, in which case I recommend to follow the route only as far as Kurobe Dam and turn around there. There is not too much to see beyond Kurobe Dam.

u know roughly how long it take to complete the route start from Toyama to Kurobe Dam?

Two words of warning:

1) On busy days there is a risk of delays, and it might be possible to do a round trip within one day.

2) Transportation along the Alpine Route is expensive (over 10,000 yen one way) and not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. A round trip will be even more costly.

or i hv to get the ticket/pass at each station/stope? mean we have to q-up for the tickets ... more time wl be spend.
