fujiyoshi onsen near Ito

So I'm going to over night in ITO and want to go to a day use onsen.
I found Fujiyoshi on secret-japan.com and this place looks good.
I clicked on the map link and saw that it is near Futo station and the road passes right by the onsen, maybe half a mile away. Google map said route 109? So Can I walk on this road? Or do I need to hitch hike???

The ryokan recommends to take a taxi from Ito or Kawana Station (about 15 or 10 minutes respectively).
But you could also walk there from Futo Station. I don't know how dangerous it would be, but it is not forbidden. It is about 3.5 kilometers or a 45-60 minute walk.
