Exporting alcohol

I'll be going to Japan for a holiday and a friend has asked me to buy sake for him. He wants a brand, which can be brought outside the airport. My friend was saying to put the sake in my check in luggage.. but I'm worried it will break when I return back home. I could post it. But I don't know if it's allowed to post alcohol to Australia.
Do you have any suggestions?

We brought a bottle of special wine into Australia from Canada: they put it in a light wood box with plenty of bubble wrap: you just need to make sure it also fits your duty free allowance.

I have carried food and drinik items in glass bottles and jars between Japan and NZ many times and haven't had any of them break yet luckily. It's always a possibility, but if you pack it well it's unlikely. One bottle of sake is within your duty free limit for Australia providing it's not one of those huge ones!
