Fukuoka - Cherry Blossoms 2009/3/23 18:19
I'm looking for places to see cherry blossoms in Fukuoka prefecture. I found this site:
www.rurubu.com, but I cannot access this site from my apartment. Can someone list the places and directions (in Japanese is fine).

Coincidentally, I just visited several cherry blossom spots in Fukuoka City today.

By far the most pleasant location was the Fukuoka Castle Ruin Park. Lots of trees, lots of green space and nice views:

The trees are about to reach full bloom.

Nishi Koen () and Maitsuru Koen (ߌ) are also in that same area from Ohori Koen Station. I wonder if they're any good. There's always Kumamoto Castle to visit.

Nishi Koen was a slight disappointment compared to the castle ruins. And Maizuru Koen is the name of the park that encompasses the castle ruins.

Here are some recent cherry blossom reports from Fukuoka and Kumamoto:

I saw something on the news this morning about the cherry trees in Nishi Koen dying out due to animal and human activity. When I went I noticed nothing wrong, but the trees did look old to me.
