Izu Peninsula Spots

We have ryokan reservations for two nights in Ajiro and later on the week for two nights in Atami.
We've been to Atami several times in the past, but never into Izu. My husband is a train buff and has been reading up on I think what is called Super Odoriko.
Any recommendation for travel spots much appreciated - the eastern Izu. Also, good places to eat?
