Inexpensive lodging in Tanabe city 2009/3/25 07:31
Hi all,

I plan to hike the Nakahechi route from near Tanabe to Honguu Taisha at the end of April. I'm looking for a no-frills sort of place to stay in Tanabe city the night before I start out -- the Ohgigahama Youth Hostel recommended by Lonely Planet and various websites seems to have shut down recently. Even a business hotel would be fine. Any recommendations, or even places to go for recommendations? (If it matters, I speak a decent amount of Japanese so it's fine if there's no English-speaking staff.)

While I'm at it, if anyone has particular recommendations for the Nachi/Katsuura/Shingu area at the other end, hit me with them, though the Shingu Hayatama Youth Hostel looks like a pretty good bet.

Thanks very much!

Altier Hotel Kiitanabe is good, just 5 min walk from Tanabe JR station. We paid 8400 yen for a semi-double room, breakfast included.

In Shingu, slightly more expensive is Station Hotel Shingu, extra for breakfast
