sakura forecast to Yoshinoyama 2009/3/29 09:47
Hi,

I have some difficulty getting info on Yoshinoyama. can anyone point me to the link that shows the status of the blooms at Yoshinoyama and the weather forecast?

Also any idea if the sakura has bloomed and if the shuttle buses have started running?

Many Thanks.

In Japanese:
http://www.sakura.yoshino.jp/

The website claims that blossoms in the lower area opened on the 27th and should reach full bloom around April 5. The higher areas should follow a few days later.

Hi,

planning to go to Yoshinoyama this Wedesday. Has anyone been there and what is the percentage of bloom and at which region?

Thanks!

By coincidence, today's cherry blossom report on japan-guide.com is from Yoshinoyama:

Wednesday looks to be a little bit early for full bloom and the upper areas, but the lower areas might already be quite enjoyable. By coincidence, I will also be going to Yoshinoyama on Wednesday.

19th April too late for sakura? 2009/4/5 21:04
Hi,
I am trying to plan a last-minute trip to catch the sakura in Yoshinoyama and just read the latest sakura forecast, which says the buds have yet to open for the top level - do you think there will still be sakura around on the 19th April? (I don't mind if some are falling...) I could go earlier, but I notice a lot of the accom is already booked up, and was hoping to stay close by...

Thanks for your help.

It is likely to be too late in the lower areas, but blossoms should still be there in the higher areas. Then again, although the higher areas are also pleasant, the mountain is most spectacular when the lower and middle trees are in bloom.

sakura at yoshinoyama 2009/4/7 06:23
Thanks Uji. If I am just going to the lower areas, which attractions would you advise that I should visit? also if at the lower areas, if I am not mistaken, if I take the ropeway, which is two way at 600 yen, there is no need to take the bus?

If it is better to take the bus, its 170yen per trip and where do I take the bus and where is the drop-off point?

Many Thks.

The major attractions are introduced here:

If you are a good walker and have enough time, you can walk everything. But to reduce the walking, you can consider taking a bus or ropeway.

If it is better to take the bus, its 170yen per trip and where do I take the bus and where is the drop-off point?

Buses depart from in front of Yoshino Station. The drop off point is in the Naka Senbon area as explained here:
