7 days JR pass 2009/4/19 23:09
HI I will be travelling to Japan for about 10 days. first 5 days in Tokyo, then one day in Hakone and one day atKyoto then Osaka. it is worth buying a 7 days JR pass ? does it cover the JR from NArita Airport to Shinjuku as well as Tokyo town, Hakone and Kyoto area?

Regular shinkansen (bullet train) tickets for a round trip between Tokyo and Osaka cost about the same as a 7-day Japan Rail Pass.

If you do only a one day trip, it won't pay off. If you do a round trip within 7 days, it will pay off.

The other minor trips are likely to be irrelevant for teh calculations.

does it cover the JR from NArita Airport to Shinjuku as well as Tokyo town, Hakone and Kyoto area?

It covers only JR transportation. It does cover the JR trains between Narita Airport and Tokyo and the JR trains within Tokyo and Kyoto, but it does not cover subways and buses, which are non-JR. Inside Hakone, all transportation is non-JR, but access to the entrance to Hakone can be done by JR.
