hello everyone im planning to say in hakone for two nights is it better to stay in a ryokan with a onsen or just stay at a hotel (which will be haytt) and just go to a public onsen

It doesn't really matter if you are okay with public onsens.
Though it could be a little bit easier to stay in onsen ryokan than make a trip from somewhere else to take a bath. Except if you're staying in the neighborhood.

It is a question of personal preference.
Note that some Western style hotels also come with onsen baths, e.g. The Prince Hakone and the Hyatt.
