Donburi recipe needed? 2009/4/24 14:59
Hello,

My boss cooked me Donburi. I thought all donburis were the same, but not all are sweet. I know he used some of these ingredients for chicken:

-black bean sauce
-Mirin
-teriyaki soy sauce
-boneless chicken

Then sprinkled coriander and green onions.

Can someone relate this plate to any other else. Cause im trying to do this donburi and don't know how to mix anything.

Thanks
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel
I think this might have some information for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donburi
I love donburi :) Almost as much as the Korean variety.

A donburi dish is something layered over a bowl of rice. However, black bean sauce is Chinese, I believe. So maybe you had a fusion dish.

Also, coriander (aka pakuchi, cilantro, or chinese parsley) is not found in Japanese cooking.

Was it perhaps mitsuba, a common Japanese herb often found in donburi that looks a lot like coriander?

I did a search for recipes using the ingredients you mentioned and the chinese recipe for chicken in black bean sauce looks similar:
