Aoi Matsuri worth seeing?

We'll be in Kyoto on May 15 when the Aoi Matsuri is on. We were intending to look around the Arashiyama/Sagano area that day, but now I wonder if we should change our plans to see this parade first then go to Arashiyama.
Does anyone know if it's really worth seeing - is it easy to see if you stand on the side of the road or will it be too crowded to see anything?
It's a work day so I would have thought not too many people would be watching. Or do all the school kids get taken there?

I'm sure Aoi Matsuri is worth to seeing.
Every year,Aoi Matsuri would on TV News,as it is one of most famous festival in Kyoto.So,as you mentioned,it will be too crowed.
I hope you enjoy the parade!
