Has anyone moved a household from the U.S. to Japan? I'm relocating from Virginia to Aomori Japan and want to know how much such a move would cost all together.

when I moved here in 2004 I called 4 shipping company's and they were more than happy to give me a free estimate. I was moving to Nagasaki and 3 were very close to the same price, one was considerably cheaper because they off loaded in Fukuoka rather than Yokohama therefore saving a bundle on ground transportation.

It cost me $100 per 50 lb. box. You probably can do better (price wise) with a larger load, but remember it takes about 2 months too arrive.
