10 day itinerary for a 2nd visit 2009/6/15 05:47
Hello. My husband and I have already visited Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. We want to spend 3 days in Tokyo and 7 days visiting other interesting but less-visited places. So far someone has suggested Naoshima (Shikoku) for the art, and Kanazawa. Any other ideas? Our main interests are art and gardens. Thank you!

Kanazawa and Naoshima sound like good suggestions. Conveniently along the way is Okayama with Korakuen Garden.

Kanazawa 2009/6/15 09:45
Absolutely go to Kanazawa: allow at least 2 full days: we went to the stunning Kenrukoen garden both late afternoon and then early morning, and don't miss the Seisonkaku villa while you are there. The Sakura Gold leaf shop is a must, near the Geisha area, as is the Nagamichi samurai area and Nomura house. If you like contemporary Art then the 21st Century Contemporary Museum is a must also. Kanazawa is less frenetic than the larger cities. We stayed at the Kanazawa Miyako hotel, right at the JR Station: a bit dated, but charming, and delightful staff and service, and very reasonably priced.
