Visiting Japan for a month.

Planning on visiting Kyoto for a Month. Right now I'm planning on leaving at the end of October. If that falls through then i'll be going in April. I'm going alone and and just starting to plan everything out so any tips or advice or general info would be great. Will also probably check out Osaka as well while I'm down there.

Kyoto has a lot to offer so I would suggest getting a good guide book to figure out what you want to see and do. You can then check back with the forum for opinions on specific things. I would also suggest reading some Japanese history so you have a better idea of what you are looking at.
