North American fax machine in Japan

I have an Epson Workforce 600 all-in-one printer which I would like to bring to Japan. Aside from the difference in electrical plugs, I was wondering if I would have any problems using the fax machine on my printer while in Japan? Are the phone lines similar to Canada? Would I be able to just plug in the fax and use it? Thanks for your help!

The plugs are the same. The camera charger I use in Canada fits Japanese plugs just fine. Can't answer the rest of the question..sorry.
