Tokyo-Hakone 2009/7/18 00:13
We are planning to vist Hakone from Tokyo. Sites to visit are Mt.Fuji, Lake Ashi Cruise, Mount Komagatake Ropeway Cable Car,Hakone National Park,Owakudani (Vocano erupting area). Are these areas accessible on our own? Can this be done in a day? Is there any good and cheap tour for one or two days?

Mount Fuji is a two hour bus ride away from Hakone. Buton days with good visibility, the mountain can beautifully be seen from Hakone.

Hakone National Park comprises all of the other sites you have listed.

Are these areas accessible on our own?

Yes, Hakone can be easily explored on your onw. A particularly easy and popular method is the following:

Can this be done in a day?

Depends on how close you want to go to Mount Fuji. If views from Hakone are enough, then it can be done within a day, but if you want to go closer to the mountain, I recommend to allocate two days.

Is there any good and cheap tour for one or two days?

The following bus tour is very popular:
