I will be in Tokyo for 10 days. I want to take 2 days to Hakone. 1 day to Kamakura. Does the JR Rail Pass cover transportations to these two areas?

yes to Kamakura but a ticket from/ to Tokyo is so cheap a pass isn't wort hit. A JR pass is only worthwhile for long distance travel.

Have you checked "transportation by trains" under A-Z at the very top of this forum??

A JR pass cover's transportation to Kamakura but only partially to Hakone. If these are your only longer distance trips then a JR pass will not save you money, and you would be better off paying for train tickets as you go. See this page for more info:
