It takes about 4 hours to travel from a hotel in Tokyo to a hotel in Kyoto. That does not leave you with a full day in Kyoto.

Also, I would consider visiting Hakone along the way from Kyoto to Tokyo and possibly spend a night there instead of returning to Tokyo once.

Apart from that, I see no problems with your itinerary.

more time in Kyoto? 2009/8/4 12:29
I would spend more time in Kyoto but I liked visiting the temples and numerous other famous sights there.

Nara 2009/8/4 17:30
I would possibly drop Nara to see more of Kyoto- considering that you are going to both Kamakura and Nikko. But that's just my opinion, because Nara is also a nice place. It's just that there are SO many things that you could do in a full day in Kyoto.
