Shimanami Kaido 2009/8/4 15:48
Hi there,

I'll be going to Japan in early December and would like to cycle the Shimanami Kaido. Would Decemeber be too cold to do this? i.e. Would I be cycling on snow? In terms of scenery, I've seen pictures of flowers and blue sea. Would I see similar things during this time? Is it worth doing this during Winter?

Thanks!

No, it is never too cold if you bring appropriate clothing, gloves and protection for your ears. But it is probably not very cold, anyways.

Would I be cycling on snow?

Very unlikely, especially in early December. The region does not receive a lot of snow. But it is not entirely impossible either.

Not sure about the scenery. Some of the vegetation will certainly have turned brownish by December, but some forests will probably remain green. I imagine it to be still enjoyable.
