Hi,
My family is coming to Japan in October and we will go on a trip around Japan. My family will be purchasing the JR RAIL PASS but unfortunatley I cannot avail of this option. I have a working visa.
We plan to go from Tokyo to Nagoya, then Osaka, then Hiroshima, then Fukuoka and finaly return to Tokyo.
This is going to cost me a fortune. Does anyone know of any special tickets I can make use of. This trip will last 1 week.

Ireland, The page below on this site outlines the various discount tickets available, but there is nothing available that offers anything like the discounts tourists get with the Japan Rail Pass, so don't get your hopes up too much. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2359.htmlDiscount ticket shops could be the best option in your case if you insist on using the shinkansen.
