Dependent visa to Instructor visa 2009/8/20 19:48
I am currently studying in Japan and my visa is "student".

My wife is with me and her visa is "dependent". She could find a company to work with as an instructor and they offered to change her visa to "instructor" or "humanities specialist".

I have concerns that if she changes her visa and after a couple of months for some reason she left the company, government may ask her to leave.

I am not sure if she can revert back to Dependent easily or not. Also, if she stopped working for sm reason, does she still have to pay taxes and health insurance?

Please help.
Thanx.

The visa is still hers even if she quits her job, although if she quits within a few weeks of starting work for example, there may be some issues if the company decided to contact immigration. If she stays a few months at least then she is free to keep her visa even if she quite the job.

Of course she can return to a Dependent visa if necessary- Japan Immigration does not force married couples who are legally in Japan to separate!
