Changing visa/status of residence

I came to Japan on a working visa and have been offered a fulltime job as an English teacher. I have applied to change my status of residence.

My new company has asked for something called a "shiteisho" to process my insurance. I have tried calling immigration offices with no luck so far. Can anyone tell me what this is and how I get it?

I guess "shiteisyo" has nothing to do with insurance, more feasibly it is related to your alien registration card. As you have just came to Japan it was still not issued, is it right? If my assumption is correct, they might be talking about the document which is used instead of gaikokujin touroku, you can easily receive it in kuyakusyo,

I have a feeling it is related to the Alien Registration Card (which I have). However, I didn't received anything else other than a card, so I have no idea what it is!

Bob, I have googled "siteisyo" and the only information which came out was related to someone who did not own gaikokujin touroku. But as you already have it, maybe they would like to receive a "gaikokujin tourokukisaisyo" instead of copy of your alien registration card? We can guess for a long time, so maybe you can try to check with your company what exactly did they mean? It`s gonna be the fastest way to figure out!

I guess I have found the answer! What is your current status of working visa? What is the job you are to start? I guess, the status of your visa and job you will perform are not compatible, so your new company needs you to bring a permission which is called zairyuusikakugai no katsudou. You can obtain it in any immigration bureau for a small fee.

I am currently switching from a working holiday visa to a working visa. My job is to teach english. My colleagues are on a specialist in humanities visa but immigration seems to think it is an instructor visa which I need.

I did not think it was possible to change a WHV into another, one of the conditions says you can't???? I was always under the impression you had to leave to process.
