taru 2009/9/21 23:45
Hi. I'd like to ask a certain grammar I am not sure of:

。。。魔道の雄たる人。。。

What does that part mean? Any further examples would be appreciated. =D

This "...taru" can be replaced with "...de aru," which in turn means "...da/desu" but this form is often used in a relative clause that describes another noun. I imagine that the phrase you quoted comes before a person's name or a noun? The phrase means:

(person's name) who is the prime example/best in the way of the magic

Whoops, sorry I overlooked that there was 人 already in the phrase, so that's the noun the clause describes. It means:
- The person who is the best in the way of magic..
