i have been told that japanese eat uncocked fish so can i find cocked fish in resturants

Of course, there are many cooked fish in Japan. Sashimi (which is raw fish whose meat is cut into small pieces) is only a part of Japanese cuisine.
You can find grilled/fried/steamed/stewed fish in Japanese restaurants. :)

It's sort of like hearing that Americans eat beef, and then someone asking if you can find chicken there as well.

I'd say maybe only 10% of Japanese fish is eaten raw.

I love salmon shioyaki and saba misoyaki. And grilled sanma is a must.
