Tefl certificate-no degree 2010/1/22 20:33
My boyfriend and I are looking to teach English in Japan in the near future. We are looking at taking the tefl course, but have no degree. Please could someone who knows anything about this situation give me advise. We are also learning the language, not just mere phrases, but grammer, hiragana, katakana and kanji I wonder if this hightens our chances?

nationality? 2010/1/23 10:14
This is a common question here, so have a look back through the older posts. You don't give your nationality- are you from a country with a working holiday visa agreement with Japan? (The US is not one of them).

If yes, then your chances are actually quite good provided you interview well. If you are from the US, then without a degree you are not eligible for a working visa, so TEFL courses and Japanese study won't make any difference.
