where can I buy corn syrup? 2010/2/10 13:58
Ok my first question is where can I buy corn syrup, I know the one we use for baking in japan is named ブドウ糖 (ブドウとう) but I have asked in normal supermarkets and so far no luck on that. And second. What Im trying to make is fondant, since i cant seem to find a baking supply store in japan. I live in aihara around hashimoto and machida so if anyone knows i will be very grateful!

Hii.. I am having same problem, finding it so difficult to find all the baking goods under one roof. However you can check this site they have corn syrup, you can order online as well.

If you have an Aeon or Saty nearby, you can find corn syrup in the store that sells international foods.
Don't remember the name but it's the store that gives free coffee while you browse the store.
It should be on the first floor of the mall.

Kaldi 2010/10/19 11:46
The store Kyototrans is thinking of is called Kaldi. They have dozens of outlets around tokyo as well as at most Aeon malls. You can find their store list here:

I bought Karo corn syrup there last year, but be warned that it is very expensive (around 1000 yen for a 500 ml bottle).

I also found it online in case your local Kaldi is out of stock:

Yeah, that's it!

And yes, it Kaldi is definitely overpriced but they do have some hard-to-find items so I guess it's a trade-off.

Costco sells it.

But that stuff is nasty....use sparingly if you dont want diabetes and a 100inch waistline.
